1. The Accolades
We could go on and on about how much we love Lisle, but don’t just take our word for it! Lisle has been named within the Top 20 Best Places to Live in both Money Magazine and Western Suburban Living Magazine. We’ve also received recognition as one of the 15 best downtowns in the latter publication, and the most parks per resident, and Niche.com considers us third in their Best Places to Live in DuPage County (behind Naperville and Clarendon Hills). According to both magazines, they factored in “population, home values, education, public safety, and several other criteria [for] the overall rankings.”
2. The Outdoors
As we mentioned in our first point, Lisle’s ratio of parks per resident is high (which we love). At Avant, we’re particularly partial to the Morton Arboretum just across the road, but Lisle is also home to 42 sites in its Park District, totaling 447 acres. If you enjoy nature, you’ll love Lisle. The Arboretum boasts an impressive 1,700 acres of woodlands, wetlands, gardens, and exhibits that offer year-round activities for the entire family. No matter what time of year you’ll find plenty of outdoor activities available in Lisle.
3. Downtown Lisle
Lisle has a walk score of 38 and a bike score of 42, which isn’t bad for a suburb. That walk score is at least in part due to the pedestrian-friendly retail and restaurant district in the downtown area. Head downtown Saturday mornings from May through September for the French Market, an open-air market full of fun and treasures.
