Dog-Friendly Places Around Lisle

Take your furry friend with you now that it’s warmer and patios are open!

We love our furry residents at Avant at the Arboretum! We are proud to be a pet-friendly community and always enjoy seeing pups come through the clubhouse or playing in our off-leash pet park. Now that it’s finally warmer out you don’t have to leave your furbaby at home while you’re going out anymore! There are many places in and around Lisle with patios that allow dogs, or if you want even more space for your pooch to run around you can check out some of the local parks! While this list isn’t exclusive by any means, here are some of our favorite dog-friendly spots in and around Lisle.

1.       Tails on the Trails

We highly recommend doing a quick internet search to find more dog-friendly events in the area, as there are quite a few especially during the summer months. At Avant we’re particularly fond of Tails on the Trails since it’s right across the street at The Morton Arboretum! Keep in mind that The Morton Arboretum only allows pets during specific event dates, so don’t bring Fido any old day. Tails on the Trails happens once or twice a year, usually at the beginning and end of the summer, and offers fun events you can enter your dog in, plenty of trails to get exercise in, and even adoptable pups if you want to expand your family!

2.       Johnny’s Red Hots

You’re not a true Chicagolander if you don’t love a good Red Hot! At Johnny’s you can get some of the best Chicago dogs, gyros, and Italian beef in the area, just a short drive off of Route 59 in Naperville. You could be a little lazy and order through GrubHub, UberEats, or Doordash, but why waste a warm summer evening by ordering in? Take your furry best friend and enjoy some Chicago fare on the patio! Note that you will have to leave your pooch tied up while you go in and order, so you may want to bring a human friend along as well.

3.       Q-BBQ

Q-BBQ is the epitome of good patio sitting and dog-friendly restaurant. They even have a Bark-B-Q on the menu for your furry friends (plain shredded chicken), and are quick to offer a bowl of water for your pooch as well. The human food isn’t half bad, either. Heads up, you do have to order inside, so make sure to bring an extra set of hands especially if you want someone to sit with your furbaby while you order. Otherwise it’s well worth the drive to La Grange, or they also have locations in Naperville, Oak Park, and Schererville, IN. Don’t believe us? 4.       Mayslake Forrest Preserve

If you want more area for your dog to run to its heart’s content, or if you don’t live in a community with an off-leash dog park, Mayslake Forrest Preserve in Oak Brook is the perfect place for you! While the preserve does have many other activities available, from fishing, to picnicking, to trails, the off-leash area is where it’s at. Let your four-legged friends run around more the four acres of mowed grass with a double gate system for added security.

5.       Noon Whistle Brewing

If you’re in the Chicago craft beer scene chances are good you’re already aware of Noon Whistle. Their best known beers are their Gummy series, but they’re much more than the New England IPA style and have offerings that any pallet can enjoy. While they did recently have to change their rules and dogs are no longer allowed in the tap room, thanks to the large patio and regular visits from food trucks, we still consider this a great after-work or weekend spot to bring your furry friends during the warmer months!
